privacy policy

the cat is nosy. the extension is not.

last updated: july 1, 2026. this policy covers the mrrpy website and the mrrpy chrome extension.

short version

the extension stores cat settings on your device so the same resident cat can follow your active tab. if you enable context-aware behavior, it uses local idle timing and coarse active-tab signals to choose an animation. it does not collect page content, browsing history, keystrokes, form input, payment details, or personal data. it does not sell data. it does not run ads.

what the extension stores

the extension uses chrome storage for local settings: enabled or disabled, selected cat, current mode, window position, popup tab, popup theme, and local tuning toggles. future context-aware settings may include whether that mode is enabled and the idle delay you chose. this data stays in your browser profile unless chrome sync behavior for extensions is enabled by your browser.

what page access is for

mrrpy runs a content script on normal http and https pages so it can draw the resident cat overlay on the active eligible tab. the script uses the current page url to decide whether that page can host the cat. if context-aware behavior is enabled, mrrpy may also use coarse local signals like the active page's site, whether a tab is audible, and how long it has been since you interacted with the cat. mrrpy does not store page urls or send them to us.

context-aware behavior

context-aware behavior is local and timer-based. after the idle delay you choose, the cat may switch to a matching bundled animation, such as music on a youtube page or typing on a writing/search/chat page. mrrpy does not read video titles, audio content, search queries, prompts, page text, form fields, messages, documents, or typed input.

what we do not collect

we do not collect or transmit your browsing history, page text, screenshots, cookies, account data, passwords, messages, documents, or typed input. the cat may sit on your document. it cannot read it.

sharing

extension data is not sold, rented, shared with advertisers, or shared with data brokers. mrrpy does not use extension data for credit, lending, advertising, or unrelated analytics.

remote code

extension logic ships inside the extension package. cat packs are data and image assets only. future remote pack delivery may provide sprites or timing data, but not executable javascript, wasm, expressions, or plugins.

website and waitlist

the website currently sends waitlist signups to a google form. if you submit that form, mrrpy receives what you provide there and google may process the submission under its own terms. the website does not currently run product analytics.

limited use

the use of information received from google apis will adhere to the chrome web store user data policy, including the limited use requirements.

contact

privacy questions can go to privacy@mrrpy.com. before the chrome web store listing is submitted, this mailbox needs to be routed. yes, the cat is making us do paperwork.
